ISLAMABAD: According to the latest Pakistan Media Freedom Report 2024-25 released by the Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE), seven journalists were killed in the country between May 3, 2024, and May 3, 2025.
The report states that no justice has been served in any of these cases, and none of the killers have been punished. CPNE highlights the increasing dangers faced by journalists, including threats, violence, and legal harassment.
The organization has called for urgent steps to protect journalists’ lives and uphold press freedom, urging the government to investigate these murders and hold those responsible accountable.
The report paints a grim picture of the state of media freedom in Pakistan and warns that the safety of journalists remains under serious threat.
