LAHORE: Heavy monsoon rains triggered a series of fatal incidents across Punjab, leaving several people dead and others injured as roofs collapsed and drowning accidents were reported in multiple districts.
In Lahore’s Garhi Shahu Railway Colony, a house roof collapsed, killing a man, his wife and their daughter. Another daughter survived the incident.
In Gujrat’s Burwala locality, three siblings were killed when the roof of their home caved in.
Two people, including a 10-year-old child, lost their lives after a house roof collapsed in Chunian, while three others sustained injuries.
In Raja Jang near Kasur, two children drowned in a pond following the heavy rainfall.
Three people were injured after a roof collapse on Bedian Road in Lahore, while four others were hurt in a similar incident in Shadab Colony on Ferozepur Road.
The downpour also caused flooding at Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Hospital in Gujrat, disrupting normal operations.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has sought a detailed report on the rain-related casualties and damage across the province.
