Severe Snowfall Alert Issued Across the UK

LONDON: UK authorities have issued severe weather alerts as an intense cold wave continues to affect large parts of the country, raising concerns over heavy snowfall, travel disruption, and public safety.

According to media reports, the UK Met Office has enforced an Amber Cold Health Alert nationwide due to persistently low temperatures. Forecasters warn that Scotland could experience heavy snowfall, with accumulation in some areas expected to reach up to 40 centimeters.

The adverse weather conditions are likely to significantly disrupt transportation networks.

Authorities have cautioned that road travel may be affected, while rail and air services could face delays or cancellations. In response, police in Scotland have advised residents to postpone non-essential travel until conditions improve.

Meanwhile, Yellow Weather Warnings for snow and ice remain in effect across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, highlighting the risk of icy roads and hazardous conditions.
