ISLAMABAD: Former finance minister Shaukat Tareen has announced to part with the embattled Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and quit politics for good.
Tareen was elected to the Senate on the PTI ticket from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2021. He remained a member of the then prime minister Imran Khan’s cabinet from October 17 2021 to April 11, 2022.
Since the May 9 and 10 violence in the wake of former prime minister and PTI chairman Imran Khan, most of his party leaders have either decided to quit politics or formed a new party called Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, its leader Pervez Khattak and Mahmood have formed the PTI Parliamentarians.
