NEW YORK: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has arrived in New York to participate in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), marking the beginning of a high-profile diplomatic engagement for Pakistan on the world stage.

The Prime Minister traveled to the United States following the completion of his official visit to the United Kingdom, where he underwent a medical checkup, held private and official meetings, and addressed members of the Pakistani diaspora during an overseas convention.

During his stay in New York, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to deliver an important address at the UNGA.

His speech will emphasize Pakistan’s firm stance on global and regional issues, particularly drawing attention to the long-standing dispute in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir and the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza. He will urge the international community to take concrete steps aimed at alleviating the hardships faced by the Palestinian people and advancing a just resolution.

In addition to these priorities, the Prime Minister is also expected to highlight Pakistan’s position on a range of critical issues, including regional peace and stability, the impacts of climate change, the fight against terrorism, the rise of Islamophobia, and the pursuit of sustainable development goals.

His participation is being viewed as an opportunity to reaffirm Pakistan’s commitment to multilateral cooperation and its active role in addressing shared global challenges.

Beyond the UNGA session, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will hold bilateral and multilateral meetings with various world leaders.

Notably, he will attend a joint meeting alongside other Muslim leaders with U.S. President Donald Trump, where discussions on Middle East peace and broader international cooperation are expected to feature prominently.
