Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has extended heartfelt congratulations to U.S. President Donald Trump following the successful conclusion of a historic trade agreement between Pakistan and the United States.

In a statement posted on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the Prime Minister acknowledged President Trump’s leadership role in finalizing the deal, which was signed yesterday in Washington, D.C.

“I warmly congratulate President Donald Trump for his leadership in the successful conclusion of a historic trade agreement between Pakistan and the United States,” Shehbaz Sharif wrote. “This landmark deal will strengthen bilateral cooperation and mark the beginning of a new era in our long-standing relationship.”

The Prime Minister emphasized that the agreement would expand economic collaboration and pave the way for a more sustainable and strategic partnership between the two nations.

Although full details of the deal have yet to be publicly disclosed, U.S. President Trump announced on Tuesday that the agreement includes plans for the development of Pakistan’s massive untapped oil reserves by American companies. Trump also hinted at the possibility of future exports to India.

The deal is seen as a major step forward in U.S.-Pakistan relations, especially in the domains of energy and trade. Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar recently described the agreement as a “breakthrough” that will attract significant foreign investment and boost the country’s energy infrastructure.

The trade pact comes amid President Trump’s renewed push for global trade realignment, with similar deals reportedly underway with other nations in Asia.
