Shehbaz, Putin discuss cooperation in trade, energy sectors

ASTANA: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday met Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of SCO summit in Astana Qazakistan.

The two leaders discuss ways to boost trade and cooperation in energy sectors. They said there were lots of potential to boost trade between the two countries.

The Russian president told the prime minister that he was ready to work with him to promote bilateral ties in different. He said that they had met at the previous SCO summit held in Tashqant and had agreed to boost bilateral ties.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that Pakistan and Russia enjoy friendly relations and they could further promote cooperation in different fields.

He recalled that Pakistan used to import lot of machinery and goods from erstwhile Soviet Russia and export textile and leather goods under barter.

Earlier, the prime minister reached the capital city of Qazakistan to attend summit of the SCO. He will address the summit and also meet with leaders of other member countries.
