Shell of rocket launcher explodes in house, nine killed

Shell was found in a ground by children who brought it home, police say.

KASHMORE: Five children, two women and two men lost their lives when a shell of a rocket launcher went off in a house in Mehwalshah village of tehsil Kandhkot in the district if Kashmore, Sindh, on Wednesday.

Local police confirmed the incident and added that three persons were also injured in the blast.

The police said the deceased and the injured belonged to the same family.

According to the police, children of the house found the shell of the rocket launcher while playing in a nearby ground and brought it home, where it exploded.

After hearing the sound, local people gathered at the house and later informed the police.

Rescue personnel, police and local people retrieved the dead bodies and shifted them to hospital along with the injured.

The chief minister of Sindh took notice of the incident and ordered an inquiry to ascertain how the shell was lying in the ground.
