ISLAMABAD: An official of Islamabad police has been arrested after he was found guilty of detaining two minor street children illegally and sexually assaulting them.
The Islamabad police stated that the action against the sub-inspector was taken after an enquiry found him guilty of the crime. The enquiry was conducted by a deputy Inspector General of Police on the complaint of the families of the two children.
The police said that the two children, aged 12 and 14 years, were roaming in the streets of Karachi Company in the G9 sector of Islamabad for begging when the police official picked them up.
The sub-inspector took the two children to the Shams Colony police station and detained them there illegally for two days. After two days, he set the children free. During the illegal detention, the police official sexually abused the minor children.
During the investigation, the police conducted a medical examination on the children which confirmed that they had been sexually molested. After the confirmation of the allegations, the police registered a case against the policeman and arrested him.
The DIG told media that on the direction of the inspector general of the police Islamabad, departmental proceedings had also been initiated against the SI for termination of his services.
It may be mentioned here that a few weeks back, three officials of the capital police were dismissed for harassing a woman in front of her husband in the limits of Bhara Kahu police.
