OTTAWA: Amid growing concerns over religious intolerance in India, the Sikh community is intensifying its push for the Khalistan movement.
Despite alleged oppression and pressures on Sikhs, the movement continues to gain momentum.
Andarjit Singh Gosal, coordinator of the Sikh for Justice movement, announced that the next Khalistan referendum will take place in Ottawa, Canada, on November 23, 2025. He emphasized support for the movement’s General Councilor, Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, and openly challenged the Indian government.
Pannu criticized the Modi administration, accusing it of attempting to implicate Gosal in false weapons charges. He stated that the referendum will proceed as planned abroad, with Sikhs casting their votes in full force.
Addressing India’s national security advisor Ajit Doval, Pannu declared, “Your summons is ready, and I am waiting for you.”
Leaders claim that the Indian government is using its intelligence agency, RAW, to target Sikhs abroad. Despite this, the Khalistan movement has become a rallying cause for Sikhs worldwide.
