WASHINGTON: A large number of people belonging to the Sikh community held a protest demonstration outside the Indian embassy here and chanted solangs against the Modi regime.
The protesters had come from different states of America. They were carrying placards and banners inscribed with their demands, including establishment of a separate state for Sikhs with the name of Khalistan.
The protesters said that the Modi regime was openly trampling basic rights of Sikhs and other religious minorities in India.
They said intelligence agencies of India were also targeting Sikh leaders in different parts of the world.
They said Canada had already come up with evidence that the Modi regime was involved in the killing of Khalistan Movement leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Vancouver in June this year.
The Canadian prime minister has demanded that New Delhi should help in tracing the killers and punish them.
The protesters said that the US government should pressure the Modi regime to punish the killers of Nijjar to provide justice to his family.
They also called upon the Biden administration to openly support the establishment of a separate state for the Sikh in India.
