KARACHI: The Sindh government has approved a decision to keep all public and private schools across the province closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
The decision was approved by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah as part of the provincial government’s austerity measures and efforts to make more effective use of available resources.
According to a spokesperson for the Sindh Education Department, school hours will be extended by one hour on teaching days to compensate for the additional weekly holiday and ensure that academic activities continue effectively.
The spokesperson said the revised schedule is aimed at maintaining educational standards while supporting the government’s broader cost-saving measures.
The new arrangement will apply to schools across Sindh, covering both government-run and private educational institutions.
