Six jail officials in custody for facilitating Imran Khan

RAWALPINDI: Six officials of the Rawalpindi jail in which Imran Khan is detained have been taken into custody for facilitating him illegally.

Intelligence agencies said that they had picked up the six low grade workers including two women sweepers for facilitating the PTI founder inside the Adiala jail. It has been learnt that one of the women was facilitating Imran Khan and her wife, who is also in the jail, by taking their messages to each other.

These officials are also being accused of giving their mobile telephones to the PTI founder for use and communication with his party leaders outside the jail. Moreover, an official who was monitoring the CCTV footage of the jail is also in custody and being questioned for concealing the footage of meetings of the workers with Imran Khan.

A few days ago, the deputy superintendent of the jail had been taken into custody by intelligent agencies for facilitating the PTI founder in the jail. He was however set free later.

These action against the staff of the jail has been initiated soon after a former general and chief of the intelligence agency, the ISI, was taken into the custody by the army for a court martial. The military said that the retired general had been taken into custody for his suspicious post-retirement activities.

This general was very close to Imran Khan when he was heading the ISI and it has been alleged that he had plant to keep Imran Khan in power for the next 10 years.
