Six killed in temple stampede in Haridwar, India

HARIDWAR: At least six people were killed and several others injured in a stampede at the Mansa Devi Temple in Haridwar, located in the Indian state of Uttarakhand.

According to Indian media, the incident occurred when a large number of devotees gathered at the temple. As some people attempted to exit the crowded area, panic broke out, resulting in a stampede.

Rescue teams and Uttarakhand police reached the scene quickly and began relief efforts. Around 35 injured individuals were taken to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. Some of the injured are reported to be in critical condition.

An eyewitness reported that the crowding became uncontrollable, and people began to fall over each other. He stated that he suffered a hand fracture during the chaos.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the incident and monitoring the condition of the injured.
