LAKKI MARWAT: At least six police officials, including a station house officer (SHO), were martyred in a bomb attack targeting a police vehicle on Friday.
Police said the explosion occurred near a patrol vehicle belonging to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police from the Shadi Khel police station. Initial reports suggest the vehicle was targeted with an improvised explosive device (IED).
The blast killed six police officials on the spot, including Station House Officer (SHO). The other victims were identified as Constable Shah Bahram (driver), Constable Shah Khalid, Constable Haji Muhammad, Constable Gulzada, and Constable Sakhi Zada. Another official, Constable Insafuddin, was injured and shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Rescue teams and law enforcement personnel rushed to the scene after the explosion, and the injured were transported to a local hospital.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi condemned the attack and asked for a detailed report from the Inspector General of Police.
He termed the deaths of the police officials deeply tragic and assured that the provincial government stands in solidarity with the families of the victims.
He also directed authorities to ensure the best possible medical treatment for the injured and stated that such acts of terrorism would not weaken the resolve of the security forces.
