Punjab police continue their crackdown on PTI leaders and workers. In Lahore, PTI leader Rehana Dar was taken into custody outside Aiwan-e-Adl. Reports state that six members of the Punjab Assembly have also been detained, including Deputy Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly, Moin Riaz Qureshi.
During the National Assembly session, PTI member Amir Dogar raised the issue of the arrests, claiming that lawmakers were being punished for supporting the party founder. He criticized the way the assembly was being run, calling it a “puppet show.”
The PTI leadership has instructed all its MNAs to gather at Parliament House, where the party’s next course of action will be decided.
Senior politician Javed Hashmi said the August 5 PTI protest is a democratic right, aimed at defending democracy and constitutional supremacy. He stressed that it is time to work together to liberate the country and build a Pakistan where the people’s opinion and the supremacy of parliament are respected.
