A small plane crashed in Clearwater, Florida, killing several people on board the aircraft and on the ground. The aircraft fell into a mobile home, rescue services said.
Authorities were alerted after the airport officials received calls about a structure fire and a “mayday” signal from the aircraft. The plane lost contact with the air control system when it was flying to the airport and was three miles from the runway of the St. Pete–Clearwater International Airport.
When rescuers reached the scene, four mobile homes, including one the plane crashed into, were on fire.
The local rescue and fire department in a post on X stated, “We’re on scene of a small plane crash at a mobile home park south of Clearwater Mall. Multiple mobile homes have caught fire. Firefighters from multiple jurisdictions are on scene.”
The local authorities did not give any information about the number of people on board the plane and those affected on the ground.
