MASSACHUSETTS: In the U.S. state of Massachusetts, a small plane crashed on a highway, killing two people and injuring a woman passerby.

Massachusetts police stated that early yesterday morning, a small plane went down along a highway, sending smoke into nearby areas and forcing authorities to temporarily close a major roadway. The crash and subsequent fire resulted in the deaths of two individuals, while a woman in a car on the highway sustained injuries.

Videos captured by nearby drivers show scattered and burning debris, with smoke rising from the site near Interstate 195.

Police indicated that the plane may have been attempting to land at New Bedford Regional Airport; however, officials also noted that it appears the pilot did not provide the airport with a flight plan or passenger details.

The state Department of Transportation confirmed that roads around the crash site were closed in both directions for safety and emergency response.
