ISLAMABAD: Cold weather has intensified across Pakistan as snowfall continues in the upper regions while rain lashes Islamabad and surrounding areas.
According to reports, Abbottabad, Haripur, and nearby areas experienced rainfall accompanied by strong winds, leading to a noticeable drop in temperature. Intermittent rain was also reported in Kandian and adjacent regions, causing low-lying areas to be submerged.
Popular hill stations including Nathia Gali, Thandiani, and other upper areas received fresh snowfall, while cold winds further increased the chill. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast that the current spell of rain and snowfall is likely to continue for the next 24 hours.
In Azad Kashmir, rainfall in most upper and central areas, along with snowfall on the mountains, has made the weather significantly colder. Continuous rain and snowfall since late night caused landslides at several locations, disrupting normal life.
Heavy snowfall in various upper areas has resulted in the closure of several link roads. The Met Office stated that snowfall may continue for the next 12 hours, while rain is expected to persist in central regions.
Meanwhile, rain and snowfall in the plains of Khyber district have slowed the departure of winter, making the weather extremely cold yet pleasant.
