Sri Lanka Suffer Injury Blow Ahead of Tri-Nation ODI Series

COLOMBO: Sri Lankan opening batter Pathum Nissanka has been ruled out of the upcoming tri-nation One-Day International series in Pakistan after failing to receive medical clearance following a hamstring injury.

The series features Pakistan, England and Sri Lanka. Nissanka sustained the injury during the recent series against England and has not yet recovered sufficiently to return to competitive cricket.

According to the Sri Lanka Cricket Board, Nissanka is making progress in his recovery but has not been cleared to play.

Lahiru Udara has been named as Nissanka’s replacement in the Sri Lankan squad for the tri-nation ODI series.

Nissanka’s absence is a setback for Sri Lanka as the team prepares for the tournament in Pakistan, with the management opting to avoid rushing the opener back before he is fully fit.
