Stabilization of economy first and last priority: Nawaz Sharif

Says economic stabilization process will be started from where it had been halted.

LONDON: Former prime minister and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif has said that the stabilization of the economy of Pakistan was his first and last priority.

Talking to a group of party’s overseas leaders in London days before his scheduled departure to Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif said everyone would have to play their due role in steering the country out of the financial and economic quagmire in which the country had stuck up.

He said if the people of Pakistan gave him and his party another mandate in the coming general elections, he would put the country back on track of development and progress.

The PML-N leader also said that those who put the country in the present situation with rising inflation and unemployment would not be forgiven by the nation.

He stressed the need for foreign investment in Pakistan and urged overseas Pakistanis to play their due role in the development of their motherland.

The former three-time prime minister was of the view that cases were framed against him to keep him away from serving the people.

This, he maintained, badly affected the economy of Pakistan because those installed in his place through undemocratic ways failed to deliver.

He said that his party would restart the development process from the point at which it had been stopped with his removal as the head of government on flimsy accusations.
