RAWALPINDI: The hearing of the cipher case against former prime minister Imran Khan and ex-foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi continued inside the Adiala jail for eight hours on Saturday.
During the hearing of the case by Special Court Judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain, Imran Khan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, their families and lawyers of the accused and prosecutors were present
The court recorded the statements of former ambassador to the US Asad Majeed, former principal secretary to the prime minister, and 10 other witnesses.
After the proceedings, public prosecutor Shah Khabar told media that so far the statements of 25 out of the total 28 witnesses had been recorded.
He said that the Supreme Court of Pakistan had granted bail to Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood on technical ground and it was clearly mentioned in the court order that it would have no impact on the trial of the case.
Moreover, Islamabad High Court order was also clear which stated that the Special Court can make the trial open and cab hold the proceedings in camera.
FIA prosecutor Zulfiqar Abbas Naqvi said that the punishment in a cipher case was life imprisonment or death sentence.
The court later adjourned further hearing of the case till December 26.
