KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed a strong upward trend on Tuesday, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index once again crossing the 162,000-point mark.

Investors showed renewed confidence during the second trading day of the week, pushing the index up by more than 400 points to close at 162,171 points.

On Monday, the market had closed with a decline of 248 points, settling at 161,687 points. However, buying activity across key sectors on Tuesday helped the market recover and move back into positive territory.

Meanwhile, in the interbank foreign exchange market, the Pakistani rupee showed marginal improvement against the US dollar. The dollar fell by 4 paisas, declining from Rs 280.71 to Rs 280.67.

Market analysts attribute the positive sentiment to expectations of economic stability, corporate earnings announcements, and easing political uncertainty.
