ISLAMABAD: Over 150 Pakistani pilgrims stranded in Iran due to the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict have safely arrived in Islamabad on a special Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight.
According to aviation sources, the special operation was carried out at the request of Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. A PIA Airbus was immediately dispatched from Peshawar to Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan.
Due to the closure of Iranian airspace, the stranded pilgrims were transported by road from Iran to Ashgabat, where the PIA aircraft was already stationed.
PIA flight PK-9552 brought the pilgrims to Islamabad late at night. The flight also carried family members of the Pakistani diplomatic staff stationed in the region.
