Sirajul Haq escapes suicide attack
Was on his way to address a public gathering when he was targeted.
QUETTA: Jamaat-i-Islami said on Friday that a “suicide attack” had targeted party emir Sirajul Haq’s convoy in Balochistan’s Zhob.
In a tweet, the party said that Haq was safe and that the attacker had been killed. The party added that Haq was present in the area to address a gathering.
Media reports said the suicide attacker blew himself up near the convoy of the JI chief. Six persons were reported injured.
A tweet by the party said Haq was on his way to address a public gathering when he was targetted in a “suicide attack”.
“The suicide attacker blew himself up near the vehicle of Sirajul Haq, but he remained unhurt in the attack.”
The JI added that seven of its workers are injured and four are in serious condition. “Sirajul Haq will address the gathering as per schedule.”
