SLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has accepted for hearing a petition filed by the wife of former Punjab chief minister Pervez Elahi in which she has urged the apex court to declare the repeated detention of her husband illegal.
The apex court stated that a three-member bench led by Justice Sardar Tariq will take up the petition on October 6.
Mr Elahi’s spouse Qaisara approached the apex court after Lahore High Court dismissed her plea for the recovery of her husband. The former chief minister of Punjab is being held by Islamabad police in a terrorism case registered against him on Sept 3.
Mr Elahi was arrested after the May 9 incidents and after being granted bail in corruption cases has been detained again in terrorism cases.
