Suspect in Karachi lawyer’s murder case arrested

KARACHI: An alleged killer of senior Karachi  lawyer Khawaja Shamsul Islam has been arrested in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Khawaja Shamsul Islam was killed in Karachi on August 1. Police arrested Hassan, an accomplice of the prime suspect Imran Afridi, from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The vehicle used in the crime has also been recovered from Hassan’s possession.

According to police sources, after the attack, Hassan fled the scene by taking Imran Afridi away in the vehicle.

Authorities have confirmed that Hassan was apprehended through technical means, and investigations are ongoing to arrest Imran Afridi. Police officials are currently conducting raids to capture the main suspect.

In response to the killing of the Shamsul Islam, lawyers across Karachi, including those at City Court and Malir Court, had called for a strike.

Due to the strike, court proceedings were halted, prisoners not brought to court, and people traveling from distant areas are facing difficulties.
