Talks with protesters in Gwadar successful, says govt

Agreement signed between DC Gwadar and BYC's Mahrang Baloch; all roads to reopen today: home minister

GWADAR: Talks between the protesters at Gwadar and the deputy commissioner have ended in success with signing of an agreement, said the home minister of Balochistan.

The minister said that after holding the talks, an agreement has been signed between the deputy commissioner of Gwadar and Mahrang Baloch of Baloch Yakjihti Committee. The government has accepted the demands of the protesters, he added.

The minister said that all road blockades and hurdles in the port city and elsewhere would be removed today. After the dispersal of the protesters, arrested activists and supporters of the BYC would be released, he added.

It may be mentioned here that a large number of people were arrested while going to attend the Gwadar rally from different parts of Balochistan. About 14 persons were also injured when they were fired upon by security forces at Mastung.

Moreover, main roads and highways were blocked by the government to stop people from reaching Gwadar to join the protest Dharna. However, thousands of people reached Gwadar and held the protest.

Their demands included recovery of the missing persons, giving rights to the local people on utilization of the province’s resources and other rights.
