Molana Tariq Jamil’s son commits suicide: police

RPO Multan says police have reached the house of the deceased and are investigating the incident.

MULTAN: A son of popular religious scholar Molana Tariq Jamil on Sunday died from a  bullet injury to his chest in Talamba village of Punjab, police said. 

Regional police officer Multan Sohail Chaudhry told media Asim Jamil had died from the bullet wound to his chest. He said the 30-year-old committed suicide by shooting himself with a 30-bore pistol after snatching it from his security guard. The RPO said the deceased was suffering from a mental illness. 

He said district police officer of Khanewal along with his team had reached the house and were collecting details about the incident.

 

Molana Tariq Jamil announced on social networking platform of X that his son had passed away and the family needed prayers of his followers in the accidental death. He termed the death of his son an accident.

Mian Channu Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mohammad Saleem said the family did not inform the police and took the injured to Talamba Rural Health Centre where he was pronounced dead.
