Terror attack on police station thwarted

Incident occured at the Pezzu police station in the Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakthunkhwa late Monday night.

LAKKI MARWAT: Police in Lakki Marwat on Tuesday morning said that a terrorist attack on a police station in the district was thwarted late Monday night.

It said that terrorists tried yo enter the Pezzu be police station but their attempt was foiled by the timely action of the police.

The district police officer of Lakki Marwat said that personnel at a picket noticed six terrorists moving in a vehicle towards the police station. They chased the suspects and also called for reinforcement.

In reply, police vehicles along with an armed personnel carrier reached the area after which the suspects fled. The DPO did not elaborate why the police failed to intercept and arrest the suspects.

He said that prompt response and action by the police foiled the design of the terrorists to attack the police station.

Of late, the provinces of Khyber Pakthunkhwa and Balochistan have seen frequent attacks in police by terror elements.

Last week, five police personnel were killed when their vehicle was attacked in Bajaur. The police personnel were going to join duty for security of polio workers.

A day later, armed men opened fire on two policemen and killed them in Bannu when they were guarding teams administering drops in to children in a locality.
