Terror group accepts responsibility for rocket attacks on Mach town

One policeman martyred, truck driver injured, say police.

QUETTA: One policeman was martyred and a truck driver injured when terrorists carried out rocket attacks on Mach town of Balochistan.

The attacks launched on the town from different sites continued for several hours and the attackers were fought back and forced to flee, Jan Achakzai, the caretaker minister for information in Balochistan told media this morning.

He said as soon as the incident occured, security forces and police responded and foiled attempts by the terrorists to target civilian population and government installations.

Today, Majeed brigade of the outlawed Balochistan Liberation Army accepted responsibility for the attack. 

Police in the town said that at least 15 rockets were fired from the nearby hills that landed in different parts of the Mach town. 

The terrorists then infiltrated the town, raided a camp of security forces near the central jail of the town and a railway station.

The presence of the terrorists in the mountains along with heavy weapons and their infiltration into the town created panic among the locals.

As the attacks were carried out, police asked the residents to stay indoor.

The provincial information minister said that the situation was now under control with security forces and police patrolling the town with no further attack.
