BANNU: A terrorist attack on a police mobile van was foiled in Bannu on Monday morning after a timely and courageous response by police, resulting in the killing of two militants.
According to police officials, the incident occurred near Company Road within the limits of Domel Police Station. The police mobile van was on routine patrol when terrorists ambushed it and opened indiscriminate fire. Police personnel immediately returned fire, leading to an intense exchange that continued for nearly twenty minutes.
During the clash, two militants were killed. Upon receiving information about the incident, contingents of the Police Assistance Command (PAC), Quick Response Force (QRF), and Rapid Response Force (RRF) rushed to the scene.
Police said that during a subsequent search operation, the bodies of the two militants were recovered from the area and shifted to KGN Hospital for legal formalities. Weapons were also recovered from their possession. Authorities confirmed that a search and clearance operation is ongoing to eliminate any remaining threats in the area.
In a separate operation, police also foiled a sabotage attempt in the limits of Basiakhel Police Station in Bannu, recovering a five-kilogram improvised explosive device (IED). The bomb, concealed inside a cylinder, was safely defused by the Bomb Disposal Squad.
