ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding its national interests, territorial sovereignty and security.

President Zardari emphasized that Pakistan will never recognize any controversial or misleading stance regarding Jammu and Kashmir, noting that India’s claims on the region are illegal and in direct violation of international law and United Nations resolutions.

Expressing regret over the Afghan leadership’s apparent disregard for the struggle of the oppressed people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir, he described it as a grave injustice to both history and the broader Muslim community.

Highlighting security concerns, he stated that attacks emanating from Afghan territory by Fitna-e-Khawarij are well-documented facts, supported by reports from the United Nations. Pakistan has repeatedly underscored that the alliance between Fitna-e-Khawarij and Fitna-e-Hindustan continues to target Pakistani citizens and security personnel.

President Zardari urged the Afghan leadership to take decisive, practical measures to neutralize anti-Pakistan terrorist elements, warning that these two groups constitute the most significant threat to regional peace and stability. He further emphasized that combating terrorism is a shared responsibility that cannot be shouldered by a single country alone.

President Zardari also recalled Pakistan’s four decades of hosting Afghan refugees as a demonstration of Islamic brotherhood and exemplary neighborliness. He stressed that the restoration of peace and the dignified repatriation of Afghan citizens are in the mutual interest of both nations.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the educational and humanitarian needs of Afghan citizens, President Zardari underscored that Pakistan will never compromise on its national sovereignty. He highlighted that Pakistan has extended every possible facility to Afghanistan to promote trade, economic ties, and connectivity.

He stressed that mutual cooperation and economic partnership form the foundation for sustainable peace and development in the region.
