Terrorists will be eliminated at all costs: president

Attends funeral of army officers and jawans martyred by terrorists in South Waziristan.

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari on Sunday said that terrorists will be eliminated from the soil of Pakistan at all costs through the might of the state and unity of the nation.  

President Zardari attended funeral prayers of Lieutenant Colonel Syed Kashif Ali Shaheed, 39, resident of Karachi, and Captain Muhammad Ahmed Badar Shahed,23, resident of Talagang, at Chaklala airbase in Rawalpindi.

Speaking on the occasion, President Zardari said sons of the soil were sacrificing their lives for the defence of their country. He paid tributes to the martyrs and expressed condolence with their families.

CJCSC General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, COAS General Syed Asim Munir and DG ISI Lieutenant General Nadeem Anjum also attended the funeral prayers, ISPR said in a press statement.

The two officers along with five jawans embraced martyrdom while defending the motherland against scourge of terrorism in Mir Ali, North Waziristan, a day earlier.

The martyrs included Havildar Saber Shaheed, Naik Khursheed Shaheed, Sepoy Nasir Shaheed, Sepoy Raja Shaheed and Sepoy Sajid Shaheed.

A large number of people including families of the martyrs, relatives, officers of the army and elders of the areas attended their funeral prayers.
