This parliament not mandated to amend constitution: Fazal

PESHAWAR: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief Molana Fazlur Rehman here on Sunday said that the current parliament is fake and this fake parliament cannot be allowed to make such a major amendment to the constitution.

Addressing a press conference in Peshawar, the veteran politician said that he had already rejected the Feb 8th elections that were manipulated and the current parliament is a product of the rigged polls and has no mandate to change the constitution in such a big way.

He said there was neither a people’s government at the center nor in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Our mandate was stolen in KP, he added.

He said that the JUI-F, PPP and the PTI would bring a draft amendment aimed at providing relief to the masses and strengthen democracy, adding there  would be no compromise on the independence of parliament.

Molana Rehman also said that no political party should be barred form holding public gathering as this was part of democracy and constitutional right of the citizens.
