RAWALPINDI: Three Pakistan Army personnel were martyred late Tuesday night when terrorists targeted a military vehicle with an improvised explosive device (IED) in Mastung District, the Inter‑Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.
According to the ISPR, the attack occurred on the night of August 5–6 and was carried out by militants belonging to the group Fitna al Hindustan, described by the military as an Indian proxy.
The martyred soldiers were identified as Major Muhammad Rizwan Tahir, 31, from Narowal District; Naik Ibni Amin, 37, from Swabi District; and Lance Naik Muhammad Younas, 33, from Karak District.
ISPR paid tribute to Major Rizwan, calling him a “brave officer” who had taken part in numerous counterterrorism operations and always led from the front.
Following the blast, security forces launched a sanitization operation in the area. The military reported that four terrorists “sponsored from across the border” were killed during the operation.
The ISPR said that operations in the area were continuing, reaffirming the armed forces’ commitment to eliminating the threat of terrorism from the country.
