Ties with China cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy: Zardari

ISLAMABAD: Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong called on President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr.

During the meeting, both engaged in detailed discussions on bilateral relations, mutual interests and regional cooperation.

President Zardari reaffirmed that Pakistan considers its relationship with China as a cornerstone of its foreign policy. He emphasized the importance of enhancing collaboration in trade, economic development, cultural exchange, and regional connectivity.

The President expressed heartfelt appreciation for China’s steadfast support in times of crisis, calling China “Pakistan’s Iron Brother” and acknowledging its significant role in the country’s socio-economic progress.

The President also underscored the need for greater regional cooperation, particularly through flagship projects like the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

He stated that such initiatives have the potential to transform the region by promoting peace, stability, and prosperity. President Zardari stressed the importance of sustained engagement and mutual trust to meet future challenges together.

Ambassador Jiang conveyed birthday greetings from Chinese President Xi Jinping to President Zardari and reaffirmed Beijing’s commitment to deepening strategic ties.

He praised Pakistan’s role as a key regional partner and expressed confidence that the friendship between the two countries will continue to strengthen across all domains.
