Training, equipping youth most effective way to progress: envoy

NEW YORK: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Shaikh, attended the Annual Board Retreat Dinner of the American Pakistan Foundation (APF) in New York City, alongside Pakistan’s Consul General in New York, Aamer Ahmed Atozai.

The event brought together members of the APF Board, Pakistani American community leaders, and dignitaries to discuss the Foundation’s ongoing work and future initiatives. The APF is a prominent nonprofit organization that focuses on empowering the Pakistani American community through youth development, education, and career planning programs.

In his keynote remarks, Ambassador Shaikh praised the APF’s efforts to engage and uplift the diaspora community, particularly its focus on empowering youth. “Training and equipping our youth is the most effective way to uplift a community,” he said. “The Pakistani American community serves as a vital bridge between Pakistan and the United States.”

He also lauded the APF’s leadership and organizational strength, stating that the professionalism and dedication demonstrated by the Foundation are a source of national pride. “The APF’s meaningful contributions not only benefit the community here in the U.S. but also reflect positively on Pakistan and its global diaspora,” he added.

The dinner highlighted the growing collaboration between Pakistani diplomatic missions in the United States and community-based organizations such as the APF. Discussions during the evening emphasized the importance of continued engagement, leadership development, and fostering mutual understanding between the two nations.

The event concluded with a reaffirmation of shared goals to enhance the role of the Pakistani American community in promoting educational and professional excellence, while strengthening bilateral ties.
