KARACHI: With the recent increase in diesel prices, public transporters in Karachi and other cities have hiked the fares.
The minimum fare in Karachi for buses has been raised from 30 Rs to 50 Rs, while the maximum fare is now set at 100 rupees.
This follows the government’s recent decision to increase petroleum product prices due to tensions in the Middle East. The government raised petrol and diesel prices by 55 rupees per liter. Currently, petrol costs 321.17 rupees per liter, and diesel is priced at 335.86 rupees per liter.
Social and political circles and the masses at large have condemned the government for putting further burden on the poor instead of minimizing their own luxuries at public expense.
