ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan on Wednesday announced its verdict in a contempt case against former prime minister and ex-chairman of the PTI Imran Khan.
The contempt case was filed against Imran Khan and Fawad Chaudhry. The ECP today said that the trial in the case will be held from December 13.
Another PTI leader Asad Umar was also involved in the case but a decision whether he would be trialed or not was not announced by the commission.
In the last hearing, Shuaib Shaheen, the counsel for Imran Khan, had told the court that the government did not want to produce his client in the ECP.
The commission member had observed that if the government was not ready, the ECP had no force of its own to ensure Imran’s security from the jail to the commission.
The trial of Imran Khan in the cipher case is also being conducted in the jail.
