WASHINGTON: U.S. President Donald Trump has once again launched a scathing attack on New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, calling him “horrible” and “a communist.”
According to international media reports, Trump warned that if New Yorkers elect Mamdani as mayor, the city could lose federal funding.
“I think it’s very bad news. But they’re going to have a lot of fun with Mamdani. He’ll have to come to the White House to beg for money,” Trump said, adding, “If the people of New York go with Mamdani, they’re crazy.”
The mayoral election in New York City is scheduled for November this year. Mamdani recently won the Democratic primary by a large margin, solidifying his position as the party’s nominee.
Zohran Mamdani, a Muslim candidate, has also made headlines for his stance on Israel. He has declared that if he becomes mayor, he will order the arrest of the Israeli Prime Minister if he visits New York City.
