ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Mian Shehbaz Sharif has received an invitation from US President Donald Trump to join the Gaza Board of Peace, according to Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
A spokesperson for the Foreign Office confirmed that the invitation was formally conveyed by the American president.
The spokesperson stated that Pakistan remains fully committed to international efforts aimed at restoring peace and security in Gaza and reiterated Islamabad’s long-standing support for a sustainable resolution of the Palestinian issue in line with United Nations resolutions.
The Foreign Office emphasized that lasting peace in Gaza is not possible without strong international cooperation and collective diplomatic efforts.
Earlier, President Trump had also extended invitations to the leaders of Egypt and Türkiye to become founding members of the Gaza Board of Peace.
Turkish authorities confirmed that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan received a letter from the US president inviting him to join the initiative. Meanwhile, Egypt’s foreign minister stated that Cairo is currently reviewing an invitation sent to President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
The Gaza Board of Peace is expected to bring together key regional and international stakeholders to explore diplomatic pathways toward long-term stability and peace in Gaza.
