WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump on Monday warned that Iran could face more destructive military strikes as early as Tuesday night if no agreement is reached, while maintaining that diplomatic efforts are still underway.
Speaking at a press conference, Trump said the United States has the capability to carry out major strikes against Iran, but emphasized that negotiations are continuing.
He indicated that a deadline has been set for Iran to respond, particularly on key issues including regional issues and the Strait of Hormuz.
But despite his repeated rhetoric of strong warning, Trump said a deal is still possible, though no final agreement has been reached so far.
The remarks come amid rising tensions in the region, with global concern growing over the possibility of further escalation in the ongoing war.
