WASHINGTON: U.S. President Donald Trump has signed a new executive order aimed at further restricting undocumented immigrants residing in the country.

According to a statement from the White House, under the new directive, undocumented immigrants will no longer be eligible to receive benefits under the Social Security Act. Officials stated that some individuals had been securing jobs using fake Social Security numbers, which the new order seeks to prevent.

In addition, the U.S. Office of Government Efficiency has begun collecting personal data to identify and take action against individuals suspected of living in the country illegally. The data being gathered includes information about where these individuals live, work, and study.

According to U.S. media reports, data is also being collected on individuals participating in protests supporting the Palestinian cause, raising concerns among human rights organizations.
