ISLAMABAD: The Tunisian girl who came to Pakistan and married her social media friend in Karachi has reached Islamabad for repatriation after she was divorced by her husband.
Sinda Ayari, a 19-year-old from Tunisia, has been sent to Islamabad with the help of the Tunisian embassy, where arrangements are being made for her return to her home country.
Sinda had travelled to Karachi after falling in love with a resident of Lyari, Muhammad Amir, through social media. The two decided to get married, and she arrived in Karachi on a Pakistani visa on 28 November 2024. However, their relationship ended in divorce.
Police say that following orders from the Additional IG, the Woman Police Station Liaquatabad handed Sinda over to the staff of the Tunisian embassy. With the embassy’s assistance, she was transported from Karachi to Islamabad. Efforts are now underway to send her back to Tunisia.
