The regulator reiterated its restrictions on live broadcasts of explosions, gunfire and terrorist attacks, directing channels to comply with the stay order issued on February 20, 2023.
PEMRA instructed broadcasters to air only information verified by the relevant government department or law enforcement agency.
The authority also directed all satellite TV channels to ensure the effective use of broadcast delay mechanisms and establish independent editorial boards.
PEMRA warned that violations of the directives could result in legal action under Sections 29-A, 30 and 33 of the PEMRA Ordinance.
