ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested two suspects involved in visa fraud and migrant smuggling following a tip-off from the United States embassy.
According to an FIA spokesperson, the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle conducted the operation and arrested the accused, identified as Tahir Shahbaz and Rab Nawaz, from Islamabad. The suspects were allegedly part of an organized gang involved in forging documents and attempting to illegally send Pakistani nationals to the United States.
The spokesperson stated that the accused tried to send 12 citizens to the US using fraudulent means. The operation was initiated after the US Embassy highlighted suspicious activities linked to the suspects.
The FIA added that raids are underway to arrest two other accomplices connected to the gang. Investigations are ongoing, and more arrests are expected.
