ISLAMABAD: The victorious Pakistan Under-19 cricket team received a rousing and colorful welcome upon their return home after crushing India and winning the Under-19 Asia Cup.
Fans gathered at the airport with drums, bands and traditional dhol to celebrate the historic triumph. Players were showered with flower petals, while fireworks and celebratory dances added to the festive atmosphere. Strict security arrangements were in place during the reception.
Celebrations had already begun onboard the aircraft, where the players cut a victory cake. Passengers, pilots, and cabin crew congratulated the young cricketers, took selfies with them, and termed the achievement a proud moment for the entire nation.
Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, announced a cash reward of Rs 5 million for each player in recognition of their outstanding performance. He also met the team after their victory and praised their skill, discipline, and determination.
In the final played in Dubai, Pakistan U-19 batted first and posted an imposing total of 347 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 50 overs.
Star batter Samir Minhas played a sensational innings, scoring 172 runs with the help of 17 fours and nine sixes. He reached 103 runs off just 71 balls and finished the tournament as the top scorer.
