WASHINGTON: The U.S. Department of Defense has imposed restrictions on 130 research and academic institutions in Iran, Russia and China over concerns about the unauthorized transfer of sensitive technologies.
According to media reports, the Pentagon said the listed institutions pose risks related to defense research and sensitive technology transfers.
The restrictions place the institutions under enhanced scrutiny and limit defense cooperation, research partnerships, government funding and technology transfers under U.S. law.
U.S. officials said the move is intended to protect American defense technology, sensitive research and national security interests.
