ISLAMABAD: The embassy of the United States in Islamabad has announced a temporary suspension of all immigrant and non-immigrant visa appointments in Pakistan until March 20, 2026.
According to an official statement issued by the embassy, the suspension applies to a wide range of visa categories, including student, tourist, business, employment, and family-based immigration visas.
As a result, applicants who had visa interviews scheduled during this period will not be able to attend their appointments, and those interviews have been canceled as part of the precautionary measure.
The temporary halt in visa services also affects operations at the U.S. Consulate General Karachi and the U.S. Consulate General Lahore, where routine consular services related to visa processing have likewise been suspended during the same timeframe.
Applicants whose appointments have been canceled will receive official email notifications with detailed instructions on how to reschedule their visa interviews once services resume.
Applicants have been advised to regularly check their registered email accounts as well as the official visa appointment portal for further updates and scheduling information.
According to the embassy, the decision was taken as a precautionary step in response to the current security environment in the region, with the safety of both staff and visa applicants being a primary concern.
